On 19th September 2018 following the reorganization of CNR, Institutes IBAF and ISE have been suppressed and IRET (Institute of Research on Terrestrial Ecosystems) was established. Carlo Calfapietra has been nominated Acting Director of CNR-IRET. The new Institute is actually involving 7 venues Porano, Monterotondo (Roma), Napoli, Padova, Firenze, Pisa and Sassari.
The personnel of IRET has a long tradition and hystory in the study of natural and anthropic ecosystems (including forest, agricultural and urban), also in relation to climate change adaptation and mitigation and is developing emerging phyto-technologies for the environmental restoration of air, water and soil.
